We are in Seattle!
This is Mitch hiking around Mt. Saint Helens. That thing is really half gone! (Mt. Saint Helens, I mean. Not Mitch. Although read my next post about his injury.)
It’s amazing how far the explosive blast and landslide went.
You can still see it smoking in the picture if you look very closely.
The weather is absolutely perfect here! The wild flowers are in full bloom.
Where are YOU today??

Wayne And Brenda Girard
Hi! We spent 3 weeks in Hesperia getting repairs! We’ve been in Mammoth Lakes, CA for 2 weeks and are heading to Reno on Monday for 3 weeks. Then off to Lassen and the Oregon coast! How are you doing and where are you?

Hi Wayne and Brenda! Oooh, sorry about the 3 weeks in Hesperia…did you find anything fun to do there in the meantime? Did they fix a lot? We can relate!
We are getting our RV repaired (some paint scratches buffed and our awning replaced – covered by warranty) in Seattle, so we’re staying with friends at their home in Bellevue. It’s my first visit to this area so I’m very excited!
Mammoth Lakes is gorgeous this time of year! SO IS RENO! I LOVE RENO! Full disclosure, it’s my hometown. ๐
We just did the Oregon coast…a little disappointing honestly but we didn’t have enough time to really give it a fair shake. It was cold and windy and we mostly strayed inland. We just love our sunshine and desert too much.
Have fun!

Hi Sharron! OMG! Talkeetna!? How exciting!
We are in Seattle, Washington. It’s my first time! And this makes (personally), 48 states for me. All that’s left is Alaska and North Dakota.
So I’m jealous!

We’re in Idaho ๐ Saw your note about spending time on the west side of Glacier over July Fourth and have to mention that one of the most memorable Independence Days we’ve ever spent was up the dirt road from there in Polebridge. Without electricity or plumbing, the place crowded with out-of-towners like us to picnic and watch the very fun parade. That evening we watched the townsfolk of Hungry Horse shoot fireworks at each other across the road. This was in 1999, before we RV’d, so we were staying in a local B&B. We sat on the porch, watched a very drunk man stumble out of the back of a local bar, try to play the national anthem on a sax, give up after about four tries, then climb onto his bicycle and wobble down the lane. I still remember it all vividly after all these years!

Idaho!! Lovely! Where in Idaho? We just booked an RV Park in Idaho for a few days to get some work done between Seattle and Glacier National Park.
I have low expectations for a 4th of July in a national park, especially Glacier, but sometimes low expectations lead to the best of times! I guess I will look for a dirt road in Polebridge and make a point to visit Hungry Horse!

We’re just west of Boise. We thought we might be buying a new toad but the deal fell through (long story — probably a common one involving dealerships, full-time RVers, and a document called the MSO). Where in Idaho will you be? We’re headed out tomorrow, so we’ll miss each other, but I can give you a great restaurant recommendation if you’ll be in this area!

We will be much further north, in Coeur D’Alene. Sorry about the toad falling through. I have not heard about the MSO — do tell! I’m sure a lot of people would like to learn about the problem.

Val and Mitch — An MSO is a Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin. It’s required by a state’s DMV to issue a title to a vehicle. When you purchase a vehicle out of your domicile state, and if you pay cash rather than finance the vehicle, it’s important to get the MSO yourself so you can file directly with your domicile state. This combination comes up so rarely that most dealerships just don’t know they’re legally obligated to hand over the MSO if it’s requested. Why is this important? It’s the only thing you have to show ownership until the title is issued by your domicile state. So if you pay cash and the dealer keeps the MSO, you don’t have any proof you own the vehicle. Some dealers are not timely with their paperwork (we’ve had this happen), which means we’re driving without proper registration or ownership papers….! When you full-time in an RV, there’s so much more to figure out than just getting the mail sent.
Anybody else out there purchase a vehicle out of their domicile state? If you didn’t finance, did you have any issues getting the registration completed in a timely manner? Just curious!
Hope everyone is having a great time — and staying cool!!

We didn’t finance and bought out of our domicile state, or rather Mitch did. We were going to finance the RV, but the dealer in Florida screwed up and put Mitch’s old address in Massachusetts on the bank paperwork, which then didn’t match his registration in South Dakota. It was Saturday and the bank was closed. They couldn’t close the transaction!
We had flown from Mass to FL to buy it, spend one night in it doing the walk through, and fly home. To avoid changing our airline tickets, and spend two days cooling our heels in Florida, Mitch had to make some hasty arrangements and buy it with cash!!
We then had a month to get the paperwork to South Dakota and receive our plates in Mass, then fly with the plates and reg back to Florida to drive the rig home.

Wow! Those were some geographic gyrations to get that vehicle, eh?!?
Are you still at Mt St Helens?

Did you get my last message? I asked if you knew where the Rambler RV park was at. If so then we are in spot number 4. Call me before you come over, tho. My new phone number is 480-543-9107. Call me anyway. We’re at the southeast corner of Ellsworth and Main.

Hi Bruce, I missed your message. Hmm…is that in Moscow, Idaho? We will be at the Blackwell Island RV Park in Coeur D’Alene for just a couple days over the weekend to catch up on work and laundry.
